1: Abia
Abia is the 32nd largest in area and 27th most populous with an estimated population of over 3,720,000 as of 2016. Geographically, the state is divided between the Niger Delta swamp forests in the far south and the drier Cross–Niger transition forests with some savanna in the rest of the State. The state accounts for 1.93% of Nigeria’s total population. In Abia State over 3 million people are mainly Christians.

Sometime in 2019, Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike declared Rivers State to be a Christian state because it is made up of 90% Christians and 10% orthodox with few practicing Islam unconventionally. The State has a population of 5,198,716 (2006 census) 7,303,924 (2016 forecast) and a population density of 469. The state accounts for 3.7% of Nigeria’s total population.
3: Plateau State
The population of Plateau State is ethnically and religiously diverse, like that of most of the central states of Nigeria known as the Middle Belt. While Christians are in the majority, Muslims make up a large minority. Plateau State is described as “The Home of Peace and Tourism”. With natural formations of rocks, hills and waterfalls, it derives its name from the Jos Plateau and has a population of around 3.5 million people. Muslim constitute about 13% population of the State whereas Christian constitute 73% as revealed by population census.
4: Benue State
Benue State is one of the North Central states in Nigeria with a population of about 4,253,641 in 2006 census. In Benue, Christians dominate, followed by Traditionalists.
5: Delta State
Delta State is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Delta is the 23rd largest in area and twelfth most populous with an estimated population of over 5.6 million as of 2016. The vast majority of inhabitants are Christian, with very few practicing traditional religions.
6: Ogun State
Christianity is a major religion in Ogun State and it constitue 70% of its population. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta are present in the state. Ijebu-Ode has a St. Clare’s Monastery.
